I wish I could post pictures for you guys to see but until I can find a place with wifi you´re only getting a written update.
Now that I got that disclaimer out of the way I just want to say that this has been one amazing week! Last week was our first week in Cuzco (because we had been in the jungle two weeks prior to that) and it was spent mostly cleaning trash off the streets (because there is a lot) while prayer walking. Because we are pioneering this new YWAM base nothing that we are doing is really set in stone but last weekend our leaders planned some really awesome stuff for us!
Right now, we have a mini DTS running for all of the older kids at El Arca orhpanage and so while the other DTS school is teaching, the half of our team that stayed in town was busy watching all the little kids and some of the elementary aged kids. They are precious and able to remember my name but they are exhausting! It´s amazing how much all of the kids take care of eachother though and how well they play together! I only wish I knew Spanish…I think I´ll take spanish classes when I get home. Also, on Wednesday, us girls got to go to the womens prison to visit some of the women Hannah´s (our leader) mom, Laura, has built a relationship with and it was the coolest experience so far! Three are from Romania and one is from South Africa. I don´t know how they were before they met Laura but they were so humble and excited to meet us and hear about us. I got to share my testimony with them and I was amazing at how attentive they were and they were asking me questions during it like what I decided to do when I found out my mom had cancer and I could have easily turned away from God but that I decided that growing more in Him was a better choice because He has provided me with so much peace and joy! One of the women even came up to me afterwards and told me she understands what I went through because her mom is sick right now. I told her I´d definitely be praying for both of them. I can´t wait to go back and visit them and to hopefully keep in contact with them when I get home. Sometime this week we actually get to go back to the women´s prison and to the men´s prison to do some ministry which includes songs, skits and testimonies. I wish I could take video or pictures but its not allowed.
Next week our school will be teaching different subjects for the mini DTS at the orphanage. Me and another person will be teaching on unity and the body of Christ. I´m not a huge fan of teaching but it will be good and I know that if we allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit it will go amazing. After next week my group which has stayed in town will be making our way up to the village in the mountains to live with the locals and to help harvest their crops and do whatever else they need all the while sharing about Jesus. I´m really excited and can´t believe that after that week we have a few more days in Peru and then its back to Australia for a couple more weeks then home!
Keep praying for us! We´ve had two really sick people leaving our half team of six to actually being a team of four for the week. Also just safety in general! Mucho gracias!!
